Roofs and Birds

Been on the road a lot lately. In Minneapolis' airport (the only part of Minnesota I've seen yet) I worked through a few hour layover. This was my "office" away from my office. The bookstore in the background was a temptation, but I resisted and stuck with the powerpoint project I was finishing up. Not exciting, but I feel better having it out of the way.

I had a quiet weekend with family and my paintbrushes. This was the visible result.

I also updated my gallery - got the most recent pieces out there, including this one.

I've been listening to Frou Frou's album, Details. I like it a lot, which surprises Daughter because it borders on Techno, and that's not usually my thing.

That painting expresses what I've been feeling a lot lately. I would love to just be able to take off and fly. Lovely.

I really love this, the freedom, the lightness. I love the colours, too and especially the vantage point of the painting.

dear steve, finally i am free to get out and leave a few comments... had kids [grown ones] visiting all weekend til today...what a lovely painting, I don't know how you make these beautiful paintings so quickly and so magnificently...ah well...practice practice practice! I admit to not having picked up a paint brush in some time....perhaps I should for my de-escalating sanity :)

take care...

I love the textures of the sky. The movement of the winds that is somehow reflected in movement of the rooftops. Love it!

And isn't always awesome to discover new things? :)

I love how (to me), it appears as if the birds are using their wingtips as brushes; sort of creating an impression in the magnificent blue paint.

I just love this a lot.

All the love,
Gina

P.S. Good for you for working instead of mindless browsing in the airport bookstore. I love to space out but usually only when it's worth it. ;-)

i just sat and stared for 5 minutes. your houses are so distinctive and your birds - i think i could pick out a Steve Emery now if i saw it in a gallery. i love the lights in the windows and the flight trails of the birds. really, i loved the whole painting. i envy your (what appears to be an) ease of skill. i would like to rise above the roof-tops and soar so freely.

I love the grace and movement it this painting. There's definitely something of the transcendental in the soft colors and the bird's integration with the town.

for some reason these buildings remind me of Israel (a place I've never been) or somewhere else Mediterranean. I love that it looks like night, but that the birds are still out flying. Your colors are always so deep and rich, even the blues and greens feel warm to me.
