Caribonsai House

I can't seem to get down into the other painting yet this morning. I'll probably throw some paint around to break the impasse.

But I also finished this one, and wanted to post him. This is Caribonsai House, and is grouped in my mind with Mistletoe House, though the style isn't much the same.

A number of things came together in my head - bonsai (we photographed an exhibit of them last year at the NC Arboretum, and I had reviewed the photos a few days ago), baobab trees, caribou, and the house in CA called the witch house (I love the assymetry, height, and curves of it).

Watercolor - 19 x 19. Here is a detail. Click either image for a closer look.

This is brilliant! Beautifully painted and with a delightful touch of surrealism. I love it!

gorgeous-i love the bonzai trees with the houses stuck up there among them and his antlers... his antlers are amazing-you really know your antlers! his fur is fantastic and so detailed[white charcoal pencil?] and he has the sweetest doe eye... i would never have the patience to do the fur so realistically but that is what makes him look so realistically surreal! he's gorgeous in every way.

i also really like the sky and the way you used the aquas and blues, they are beautiful against the gold, touch of orange and yellow in the antlers. what's up in the right top corner? is that a fish?? *grins* is it???? how fun, i think it is! ;)

This really is a very elegant piece. The caribou is beautifully rendered and very realistic which makes the house and trees in his antlers all the more delightful a surprise. Your work grows ever more sophisticated.

How majestic he is; and what a fantastically imaginative composition. The colors leave me with the taste of ice cream in my mouth. Thank you for sharing your art because I can vicariously live in it during my fallow times. :)

Wicked Cool!

Your handling of color always surprises and amazes me, as does your sense of composition.
