This is very nicely done and looks even better in its larger size. I wonder if you drew it from a photograph but I'm thinking it's more likely drew it looking back and forth in a mirror. That's because you're unlikely to have those closest to you taking your picture wearing this noble yet distant expression. You could be a sea captain watching for bad weather or a man having a profound vision. The soft shading on your left side contrasting with the white paper and its hints of bright light on your right was a stroke of genius.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments. This wasn't a sad moment, though my face gets more somber looking as I age, I think. I took some photos specifically for a self portrait view, and using strong lighting (the lamps I use over my art space).
