Guilty Musical Pleasures

I may have a painting post later, but right now, while I wait for the big mess to dry, and the brownie to finsh baking downstairs (Daughter cooked and baked), I want to talk about some guilty pleasures. Some stuck up part of me feels like it shouldn't like these things, hence hte title of this post, but I do like them... a lot...

I am stuck on Prince's songs Little Red Corvette (tune AND words), and Raspberry Beret (tune AND words)... I picture them both very long and leggy - not my type, actually.

and Amy Winehouse (just about anything) particularly Back to Black and No Good...

and Avril Lavigne (the brattier the better, it seems) but lately it's The Things I'll Never Say, where I'm fascinated with the words of the refrain because she so freely mixes sweet girly longing and sex...

and P!NK - also nearly anything, but particularly U + Ur Hand and Cuz I Can which have the most attitude...

and Christina Aguilera, the entire Back to Basics album, and for her AND for P!NK I love it when they laugh dubbed over the song...

And I never liked Prince when I was younger. What's with that.

I love Pink and her attitude...almost went to see Chrissie Hynde (you know her? every heard "Precious" - now that's attitude!) last night but it meant going into DC to where husband works on his day off and he had a cold, so....And Heart, of course. Daughter's loves Prince. I don't dislike him, but he isn't a favorite.

Have you heard Pink's "So What?" Man, i tell you it rocks!! She seems like she's having so much fun!

Going to see Pretenders on Thursday....and I am tickled pink! (Oooops, pun wasn't intended!) I will leave a treat over at my blog before I go.....

Thanks so very much for visiting and leaving kind comments.... I'm very flattered...

Everything stops when Pink comes on the radio. We all shut up and listen - on in the case of Cupcake and me, we sing along.

Amy Winehouse got me through some rough times last year. I may have been able to give up some bad habits, but I'll never give up Amy. I use her as a gauge. If I can listen to her without wanting to snap something in half, I know it's a good day.

I'm glad you shared some guilty pleasures.

Did you say brownies?

my not so guilty pleasure in all that is the brownies...yum, wish someone would bake some of those around here, besides me, because I won't...

oh, and Pink yes...the rest, not so much...now I know why you called your beret a raspberry beret another time...I was wondering about that particular color then(other than it's a lovely color) and now I know why...you and prince, uh huh...

This is cool, and intriguing to me. Your musical tastes (as elucidated here) are so very "pop," which I hadn't anticipated. IO usually think of artists as having much more "out there" musical tastes.

Then again, perhaps "pop" is "out there" for artists!

BTW, I'm a Tom Waites/Captain Beefheart kinda guy, and I too like the folks you've listed, especially Prince, whose sexual ambiguity brings out the gurrrl in me. ;)
