A Grenouille Christmas - 3

Here we have the ceramic tree in the dining room. This has been Etienne's favorite Noel decoration at Mother's house for a long time, perhaps due to his sweet tooth for color? The bright lights, some of them in the shape of birds, might even be an influence on his paintings? Who can say?

Etienne recalls that perhaps Mother made this ornament, in a ceramics class?

This post is for those who find this time of year dark and wish for more light. May these colorful lights, and the thoughts and well wishes of friends and family brighten this time, until we are well past the solstice, and days are again getting longer. Then it will soon be time for sitting once more beside the pond, hearing fountains play, and catching the most succulent little flies - the kind that are even better served with a little buerre blanc or just huile d'olive and a crisp Sauvignon Blanc...

No wonder Grenouilles usually sleep through the winter.

Au revoir,

Grenouille

hoping all is well in your house tonight after the past week of ups and downs....yes, this is indeed a dark and dreary time as far as I am concerned although I am trying not to be too much of a scrooge around here! (my family says otherwise...) so, due to that I don't have many opinions of the little tree other than it's cute like so many other of it's kind, shall we say? I don't know who "mother" is...your wife's mother perhaps? I was not sure - not grenouille I doubt as he would have been one of hundreds in his brood!

hoping you have time to come over and comment on the latest installment of balloons some time....make merry...or try anyway...

steve, I have given you the tree of happiness award, which you may accept or not, no obligatory stuff to do...I liked it as it asks what makes you happy and that was fun to do...I think we all would like to know what makes us happy and I would love to know what makes you happy...something does from your paintings since they positively glow with a Light! hope you don't mind and if you do, simply ignore...I don't know how you feel about them....

Linda - thanks so much for the award! With your comment format changed I could easily comment again, and I did just that this evening. And I hope this season isn't all dark for you. We have quite the schedule here doing the things we LIKE to do - we've cut just about everything else. We'll see how it goes.

And Mother is, indeed, my mother-in-law. You're right - Grenouille had no idea who his mother was - I think no frog does.

My Mom had a ceramic tree exactly like that one - I think my Brother may still have it!

Merry Christmas to you and your family, Steve, and thanks for brightening my darkness, both within and without, with your beautiful art.
